Livelihoods in English provides students with opportunities to consider and make action plans for the transition from university to working life. In this module, you will research career and further study opportunities for graduates of English, and research beyond conventional paths to examine volunteering, freelance work, and the world of the startup and digital media. It will ask you to consider what opportunities there are for you and how you can create yourselves as new entrants into the world of work. There will be a range of activities including: visiting speakers, networking events, independent research, group workshop tasks and the development of an individual livelihood 'Flight Plan'. Livelihoods in English encourages you to draw upon the thinking you have done on your degree about the values, ideologies and practices of the cultural and media industries, and to use that thinking to make empowered choices about work and livelihood.
