This module will introduce students to the basic concepts of pharmacology (the branch of science that deals with drugs) and living organism-drug interactions. It will also provide the students with basic pharmacological principles (e.g. pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics) and concepts of the pipeline of drug discovery.
This module aims to offer students the basis of pharmacology that they will further develop in future years. It will also offer an introduction to the important concepts of immunopharmacology and drug delivery into the brain.
Students will learn important techniques such as flow cytometry and organ bath systems, both of which are applicable in the field of pharmacology. Furthermore, students will be trained to present their work by writing a scientific report and delivering an oral presentation.
Lectures will be delivered by specialists in the area.
